Hackers, HIN & More

February 27th, 2009 | Category: General Mayhem

So Time Warner So Cal has been hacked, or is in the process of, being hacked which means my internet is now super slow and sometimes nonexistent. I’ve also been busy this week going over the AKA Footage and meetings and trying to figure out how to cut it all together! Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 is pretty awesome and plays nice with AVCHD and P2 files! 6x faster then Final Cut Pro too! So stick that in your Mac!

Anyways, the Hot Import Nights Car Show series kicks off in LA finally! It was scheduled for March 14, 2009 at Dodger Stadium but due to the hip-hop music and crazy car crowd, Dodger stadium said no. Guess HIN should have told them just what they were doing before they signed-up to use the parking lot! Any rate, HIN has moved and will be the same date and time, just now it’s at Angel Stadium!

James Bond GPS Car Tracker

February 19th, 2009 | Category: General Mayhem

Or super stalker tools if you will. Hammacher Schlemmer sells a little device that runs on 2 AAA batteries for 3 weeks and is good for tracking the exact location of the car or whatever for 100 hours. You simply hide the device in the item or use the magnet on the back of it to attach it to the car being stalked. Then when you’re done, you remove the little dongle and plug it straight into your computer to see where it’s been! Kinda creepy, kinda cool. All this for $229.95 too! The only downside is that you can’t log into a site and securely check where it is at, so it wouldn’t make a good car alarm or cheap LoJack alternative. Still fun to play around with though! Pretty sure there was a HackADay guide on how to make your own using a pay as you go cellphone for $40 from BestBuy or wherever but it required a bit more hacking, soldering and time…

Campagna Motors Press Release

February 12th, 2009 | Category: General Mayhem

Montreal, February 12, 2009 – Campagna Motors is delighted to announce that the provincial motor vehicle bureau (Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec or SAAQ) has implemented a policy that allows Class 5 (passenger vehicle) license holders to drive the three-wheeled T-REX. This new regulation will make the T-REX available to a greater number of people, now that the SAAQ has realized that operating a T-REX is more comparable to driving a passenger vehicle than a motorcycle. However, under the Quebec Highway Safety Code, owners have to register the T-REX as a motorcycle and the driver and passenger must wear a helmet, just as they would for a motorcycle. But the motorcycle license requirement no longer applies.

David Neault, Chief Operating Officer (COO), is thrilled with the news. “We’ve been facing many unreasonable hurdles for quite some time now, some of which have deterred customers from buying our products,” he explained. “A good number of T-REX fans were put off by the long, drawn-out process of obtaining a motorcycle license, while others objected to the idea of having to learn to ride a motorcycle to pass the road test. We trust that the SAAQ’s initiative will pave the way for other provinces to modify their laws so that we can offer this exciting vehicle to a greater number of sports car enthusiasts!” Neault believes regulatory bodies ought to work in partnership with cutting-edge manufacturers in developing regulations for consumer-ready innovative products.

He added: “This new policy is a great market development opportunity for us and we hope that other provincial jurisdictions will follow Quebec’s lead. We actually find it paradoxical that a vehicle such as the T-REX is approved by Transport Canada yet it cannot be registered in provinces such as Ontario and Alberta. The SAAQ’s position clearly indicates that it considers T-REX to be more like a sports car than a motorcycle.”

For more information on the T-REX and Campagna Motors’ other three-wheeled vehicle, the V13R, visit the Montreal Motorcycle Show at the Montreal Convention Centre, February 20-22, 2009, or go to www.campagnamotors.com
